Women of the SS is/was a side project by John Zewiss of Sleep Chamber. The name and imagery relate to a bondage and sado masochist fetish and have nothing to do with promoting Nazism or fascism. Zewiss himself commented:
"This waz actually not meant to be any more than an one-shot project. I had been working on some instrumental musick that waz not in the same style az SLEEPCHAMBER. It had no drums an waz basically tapes, keyboards and violin. I wanted to create an eerie atmosphere. Something cold and almost like a sci-fi soundtrack. All the musick waz mixed and completed. I had titled the project 'WOMEN OF THE SS'. It waz already to be release az a cassette when I met a girl with a thick Czechoslovakian accent. I asked her right away to do some vocal overdubs. She agreed. After that I met other girls with German accents and Russian accents. So, yo never know what accent you are listening to when you hear a 'WOMEN OF THE SS' track. What makes an SS track iz the exotick accent an the concept ov the image. The project haz taken on a life ov its own. I can't believe the demand for a prokect I spent such a little time promoting. At this time I have abandoned the project. Some ov the girls went on and formed 'WOMEN OF SODOM'. They are released a 7" an a couple ov CD's. Popular demand haz kept 'WOMEN OF THE SS' alive and well. To me... a female narrating sexual dialog with a thick exotick accent iz somewhat exciting, and moody. A perfect fetish part ov atmosphere."
This is a very rare release.
