Bigod 20 ::: Body & Energize
This record drives the sound ideals of EBM to the maximum: beats that hit hard on the dancefloor and synths that cut the air. These tracks were made in 1988 by the prolific, multi-talented Talla2XLC, this time in connection with Jallokin, during the big times of New Beat in Belgium and its counterpart in Germany (always a bit more EBM-oriented, more underground and dubbed Aggrepo by Talla himself); but a good amount of all other New Beat/Aggrepo whatsoever, as much as I love it, sounds frustratingly tame after having played this one in a set. Extremely sharp and well-produced synths set Body To Body apart, and I wonder why these techniques were not used so often on more melodious tunes. Here both tunes are as non-melodic as it gets; Body To Body compensates it with sounding wild and chaotic while being danceable all along; Energize is (almost) pure rhythm - slower, even funky, instrumental, and again with a razorblade production.
